Yoghurt Flat Bread

Using just three ingredients, these super quick and easy yoghurt flat breads will soon find a place on your weekly menu, even for the time poor! Ready in just 15 minutes, these light, fluffy and crispy delights are the perfect accompaniment for dips, curries, stews and soups or wrapped around a lamb kofta- our favourite go-to meal!

Ingredients:

I cup of Bethune Lane Dairy Pot Set Natural Yoghurt

1 3/4 cups of Self Raising Flour

Pinch of Cumin seeds (optional)

Oil or Ghee for cooking

Method:

  1. Place yoghurt into a bowl and add 1 cup of SR Flour, cumin seeds and combine. Add remaining flour gradually until the dough starts to form into a ball.

  2. Cut dough into 8 even pieces. Prepare a chopping board for rolling the dough onto by lightly flouring.

  3. Roll each piece of dough into rounds roughly the size of a saucer, add flour as required.

  4. Brush oil or ghee onto both sides of the dough and place onto a hot frying pan. Once the dough starts to bubble up, or bread has browned, flip the flat bread and cook until browned.

We love adding an extra brush of olive oil and sprinkle of salt before serving!

In between milking cows, bottling milk, running after five boys and for Paul, playing golf, we’ve found that making these in batches and freezing them is perfect for those nights when we don’t even have 15 minutes to spare. We simply get them out in the afternoon and place on the bench, then reheat in the oven or microwave although you could also use a frying pan, sandwich press or even the humble toaster (just don’t put it on the crumpet setting!)
